Meet Southern Mother Jessica A. in Her Gorgeous Georgia Maternity Photos
Motherhood is the most beautiful gift. For me personally, it’s something I feel like I was born to do. Motherhood means being selfless, full of unconditional love, and a never-ending supply of patience. It means cherishing the good days and knowing that even on the hard days, you have the most important job in the world.
In your own words, tell us about being pregnant, the mother you have become while carrying new life, and how it’s changed you.
Pregnancy was a wonderful experience. There’s no better feeling than the tiny flutters and kicks of new life inside of you. It was full of excitement, anticipation, and dreaming of the child I would soon know. Pregnancy made me feel like I can accomplish anything. Knowing I was able to grow and give birth to a tiny human made me feel like superwoman.
Did you find out the gender of your baby? Is there a name picked out yet?
I did find out that we were expecting a boy. My husband and I had his name picked out long before we were expecting.
What are your must-have pregnancy items?
A good pregnancy pillow and comfy maternity clothes!
How did you find out you were expecting?
I was in the bathroom of the home we’d just purchased when I decided to take a pregnancy test. I’d hoped with all of my heart it would be positive. Tears filled my eyes when I finally saw those two pink lines that I’d been waiting for. I ran out of the bathroom screaming for my husband. It was one of the happiest moments of my life.
How did you tell the father?
He knew as soon as I found out, I couldn’t contain my excitement.
How has pregnancy changed you as a woman?
Pregnancy made me feel unstoppable. It made me feel softer, more feminine, and fiercely protective.
What are some of your most cherished memories of your childhood and do you plan on passing down any southern traditions?
I spent a lot of time outdoors camping and boating on the lake with my family. Being active and having a love of nature is something I hope to pass on to my son.
What most surprised you about pregnancy?
How quickly it went by and how my belly seemed to grow bigger sometimes overnight!
What has been your greatest challenge in being pregnant?
I struggled with anxiety during my pregnancy. I worried a lot about possible complications and something going wrong. I had to really work hard to manage my fears. I relied heavily on prayer and leaned on my family and friends when I was needing some positivity and encouragement.
What is your greatest joyful memory of being pregnant?
My greatest memory is our first ultrasound. It was so surreal to see the tiny being that we’d created inside of me. I cried when I heard our baby’s heartbeat, it was so special.
What advice do you wish you had known before getting pregnant (even if it’s something gross)?
What would you tell someone who just found out they were pregnant?
Enjoy every stage and be proud of your beautiful changing body.
Can you share with our mommies where you purchased the items you wore for your maternity session?
I purchased my dress off of Amazon! It was so comfy yet elegant and affordable.
Did you have any pregnancy cravings or aversions?
I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and cereal almost every day!
If you could give your child(ren) one piece of advice what would it be?
Above all else, I want my son to grow up to be a good man. I want him to know and understand the value of kindness and compassion for others. I hope he always finds it in his heart to help others in need with no expectation of receiving anything in return.
Jenny was so much fun to work with. We had our maternity shoot on my 29th birthday. Behind every shot was a sweet compliment or a corny joke that made us crack up. She would have us tell each other things while she was shooting, like, what we were most looking forward to in seeing the other become a mother/father. It was such a special experience for us. I’ll cherish these images forever.
“Hello! I’m Jennifer, a passionate extrovert who drinks a ton of coffee, always looking for chocolate in the cupboards, and embarking on little adventures with my family. I’m an Action-ista at heart, and desire to bring out the best in the people I meet. I think that always starts with family, good food, and a place where we can just breathe for a sec. I love a beautiful sunset!
I create a fun and engaging experience so you get to connect with the people you love the most. No rushing or pressure (for real!) but gentle guidance, suggestions, and laughs so you can enjoy beautiful and honest artwork full of cherished memories.
