From the Photographer: My session is with one of my best friends, Rachell. She is the first one among my closest friends to have given birth, and we wanted to do portraits that would encapsulate her personality the best, which was a milk bath full of flowers, a lacy gown, and a bare-naked baby. We did the photos in my home, where there is a large frosted window right next to the bathtub to give a wonderful diffused and fairly even light. One of the challenges we faced was a crying newborn once we got her in the water. But to combat that, we used a small portable heater right near the tub, and she immediately ceased crying. The other challenge we faced was that the flowers kept sinking instead of floating. So we coated the bottom part of the flowers and leaves with a dab of cooking oil, and it helped keep the plants afloat.
